Malignant mesothelioma is an aggressive cancer caused by asbestos
exposure. It is difficult to diagnose and poorly responsive to therapy.
By the time the symptoms appear and the cancer is diagnosed, the disease
is often advanced. The average survival time is about one year. However,
if the cancer is found early and treated aggressively, almost half of
the patients whose cancer is found early reach the two-year mark, and
about 20% survive five years.
The average age of diagnosis is 50 to 70 years old. The onset of mesothelioma
has a latency period of 15 to 50 years, which means that people who worked
in factories with asbestos many
years ago could start to show symptoms of the disease now. Although the
majority of cases of mesothelioma are reported from workers who came in
direct contact with asbestos, there have been cases of family members
being diagnosed after washing their husbands work clothes and other forms
of secondary contact. There are an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 new
cases per year of mesothelioma in the United States, and this figure appears
to be increasing.

If you have mesothelioma, or any other asbestos-related
disease, you were most likely exposed to asbestos some time in your life.
Many of the manufacturers of asbestos insulation products knew for decades
that asbestos was hazardous, yet made a business decision not to warn
people of those hazards. As a result, you may have a right of recovery
against those manufacturers, which can help defray the costs of treatment
and provide compensation for your pain and suffering.
If you or a family member has been diagnosed
with mesothelioma, Brown & Crouppen may be able to
get you compensation for your injuries, pain and suffering. Call us at
